Upcoming Art Opportunities (Spring 2016)

Pietrasanta, Italy
CALL FOR ENTRIES: Deadline April 1

The members of the Montgomery Art Guild have been offered an exciting opportunity!!

Mayor Todd Strange of Montgomery and Mayor Mallegni of Pietrasanta, Italy, Montgomery’s sister city, have participated in cultural exchanges for several years.  Last year Montgomery residents were treated to an Italian marble exhibit to honor the most recent swearing in of Mayor Strange.  These pieces were by local artists from the Pietrasanta area and exhibited at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts.  It is Mayor Strange’s desire to reciprocate in honor of Mayor Mallegni by sending art from the Montgomery Art Guild artists to Italy!

WANT TO SEND YOUR ART TO ITALY? Read more specific instructions on first page of this MAG website. Additional questions, contact Linda Cappelluzzo at 334-399-2223.

It is not too late to pick up a birdhouse!

birdhouse_sampleWe hope that all those that participated in last year’s event will join us and encourage others to get involved in the fun as well. Jean Belt was our judge last year and has graciously accepted the fun challenge of deciding who will be our top three winners.

  • The birdhouses will go on display at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts this year during the 2016 Flimp Festival. We will continue the tradition of having visitors to the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts select a winner for the Viewer’s Choice Award during the Flimp Festival Event.
  • The Birdhouses will be on display throughout the year in various local businesses and winners will be recognized at the unveiling and press conference in June.
  • All birdhouses completed will be part of a silent auction at the main event in September that will benefit the Family Sunshine Center.
  • Winners will receive tickets to the main event.
  • Birdhouses will need to be completed, delivered to Stonehenge Gallery by Thursday, April 28th and Friday, April 29th during regular business hours. Judging will take place on Saturday, April 30th at noon.
  • Specs of Birdhouses are as follows: 11 inches width x 14 inches height x 12 inches depth. They are made of plywood and will need to be primed and painted.
